Fiona Kumfor

Fiona Kumfor is an Associate Professor with the School of Psychology and Brain & Mind Centre at the University of Sydney. She is a cognitive neuroscience researcher with expertise in younger-onset dementias, neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychiatry.

Fiona's research interests include:

  • early diagnosis of dementia

  • social cognition

  • behavioural changes

  • carer supports, and

  • interventions for enabling people with dementia to live well.

 

Fiona is Director of the Sydney Neuropsychology Clinic and a senior researcher with the Frontier Frontotemporal Dementia Research Clinic. She has received >$3.4 million in competitive funding and has published >80 peer reviewed publications and 6 book chapters in leading medical journals such as Lancet Neurology, Brain, Cortex and Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

 

Fiona is elected Member-at-Large for the International Neuropsychological Society, on the executive board of the International Society for Frontotemporal Dementias and Vice-President of the Australasian Society for Social and Affective Neuroscience. Fiona is also endorsed as a Clinical Neuropsychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
