In March 2024, Dr Victoria Shepherd, Senior Research Fellow at Cardiff University, visited Australia as part of a Churchill Fellowship on planning ahead for research participation. Dr Shepherd leads pioneering research on the ethical and methodological issues surrounding research involving adults with impaired capacity to consent. Her visit culminated in a symposium organised by Dementia Law Network co-founder, Prof Nola Ries, held at University of Technology Sydney. The event brought together researchers, clinicians, advocates and representatives from stakeholder organisations, all with shared interests in research participation for people with cognitive impairment.
